Unlike the GameCube version, this time around you can go trick-or-treating. Some of the animals will remain in their houses. Go inside while wearing a costume (a matching "look") and they will give you a piece of candy. Leave and re-enter their house to get as much candy as you need. The candy is used in two ways: 1. To give Jack in exchange for spooky furniture. 2. To give to your neighbors who will destroy an article of clothing you're wearing or an item you're carrying if you don't give them candy. If you're wearing a costume, they won't destroy your clothing, but any items in your inventory are at risk if you don't have candy for them. Note: Items attached to letters are safe. Happy late Halloween! This event starts at 6PM and ends at 12AM. Your goal is to find Jack, the czar of Halloween, and give him a piece of candy. However, many of your town's residents will also dress up in the same way as Jack. The only way to tell which of the caped jack-o-lanterns is Jack is to find the one that doesn't chase you. Your villagers will chase you and attempt to get candy from you, or trick you. Jack doesn't do this. Give Jack a piece of candy, and he'll return the favor by giving you a piece of furniture from the Spooky Series. Here are some helpful tips: - Do not wear a hat or accessory. It may be replaced by a pumpkin head if you run into a villager. - Do not wear a shirt that you like. Wear a pattern or a shirt you don't like, as it may get turned into a moldy shirt or patched shirt by a villager. - Dressing up in a matching outfit will earn you candy when entering a villager's house. Just talk to them, and they'll give you free candy! - There is a way to tell the general area in which Jack will be located next. Once you are done talking to Jack, and he disappears, your character will rotate in a random direction. Jack will be in that general direction. - Jack gives out random pieces of furniture, so you may end up getting duplicates before you even get the whole set. This can be frustrating, as it was for me. But the next tip is the bright side to this. - Each piece of furniture in the Spooky Series (excluding the wallpaper and carpet) sells for 10,310 Bells at Nook's shop. Try to earn some extra furniture. You will, in turn, earn some extra profit. - If you want to make life easier during Halloween, you can trap your villagers before 6PM by surrounding them with holes dug by your shovel. This way, you don't have to worry about accidentally running into them. And, if you see a caped jack-o-lantern that's not surrounded with holes, you know it's Jack.
